MUSIC THEORY TRAINING
TERMINOLOGIES
Chord: A combination of 3 or more notes that blend harmoniously when sounded together.
Chord Scale: All of the chord combinations that naturally occur in a major key. For instance, in C Major, the chord scale for worship music is C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, G/B,
back to C. These are numbered 1, 2m, 3m, 4, 5, 6m, 5 over 7 and back to 1.
Chromatic: Moving up or down in half steps.
Diatonic: The chords belonging to the key such as C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, Bdim.
Enharmonic: Two identical notes with different names, such as F#/Gb, D#/Eb, etc.
Function: Describes how a chord works in a progression. For example a 5/7 chord
(G/B) in the key of C functions as the vii (“7”) chord, which is normally diminished.
Half Step: The closest note above or below any given note.
Inversion: An alternate way to spell a chord in which the third or fifth is the bass note.
For example C/E (“C over E”) is the first inversion of the chord as the third is in the
bass. A C/G chord is the second inversion of the chord as the fifth is in the bass.
Key or Tone Center: The home notes and chords that belong together. For example,
in the key or tone center called “C Major”, the notes that belong are C-D-E-F-G-A-B.
The chords that belong are the chords of the chord scale, which are C, Dm, Em, F, G,
Am, G/B (“G Over B”) and back to C.
Key Signature: The number of sharps or flats indicated in written music notation.
Notes or Notes in the Scale: Musical pitches belonging in the key. Numbers are used
to refer to the notes in a scale such as C Major C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C is called 1 (also called
“root”)-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 (same as 1).
Number System or Nashville Number System: A way to express notes (such as Mary Had a Little Lamb as 3-2-1-2-3-3-3) or

numerals such as I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, vii° and back to I. For whatever reason, the only
Roman numeral still used is the I for the “1” chord (the root).

A Letter To My future Wife
To my future wife,
I found myself thinking about
you today. Wondering where you
are, what you’re thinking and
doing. It hurts a little not to be
with you, but I can live with that
for now, knowing that we’ll
spend the rest of our lives
together. I’m writing this letter to
help you understand what I’ve
been thinking about and why. I
probably don’t know all the right
things to say, but my feelings and
words are from the heart.
Actually I find myself thinking
about you more and more. The
very idea of you provides a much
needed break from the pressures
of dating, relationships and life.
In the midst of it all – the thought
of you calms and refreshes me –
makes me smile, in spite of my
situation and surroundings.
I know it sounds crazy, but I
picture you – your smile, the way
you pull your hair behind your
ear, your wonderful laugh, even
when my jokes aren’t funny. I
can’t help but wonder what our
children will look like.
I’ve gone out with other girls, but
something always seems to be
missing. I go out and have fun
but the idea of you and our
future together is always in my
thoughts. It keeps me focused
and on track, aware of who I am
and what’s important.
And loving you, without ever
having met you, makes me want
to be deserving of your love. So I
wait for you – in mind, body, and
soul.
I don’t usually talk or write like
this, but my mind and heart are
racing with anticipation. Because
I love you, because I know you’re
out there. Because the very
thought of you makes my pulse
race, my palms sweat, my
stomach flip like I’m on a roller
coaster. And what better way to
show that I’ve always loved you
than to save myself for you –
completely. And I hope that
you’re doing the same.
I know waiting isn’t easy. We’re
taught to expect instant
gratification. We’re told we
shouldn’t have to wait – for
anything. Too often we act on
feelings or impulses, sacrificing
the future by buying into the lie
that sex equals love, leaving little
room for commitment or
marriage. But that’s not love and
that’s not why I’m thinking about
and waiting for you.
I’m waiting for you because I
love you unconditionally. And I
need you to know that what
matters to me is not where
you’ve been or what you’ve done,
but where you’re going. Maybe
you didn’t know I existed. Or you
thought that we’d found each
other, only to realize later that
what you discovered wasn’t true
love. Real love is so different from
infatuation or simple pleasure. It
isn’t abusive or selfish or purely
physical. Real love involves
mutual respect, affection, trust,
equality, and a shared spirituality.
Real love doesn’t revolve around
sex! Real love grows into a
relationship where intimate
intimacy will only serve to
express that love – marriage.
I talked with a friend the other
day about chastity – modesty and
purity in our thoughts, words,
the way we dress and act – how
it’s a building block for a perfect
love that casts out all fear. And
sex before marriage brings many
fears – pregnancy, STDs, the
emotional scars associated with
broken relationships. So, in the
search for perfect love, it only
makes sense to practice chastity
and wait until you’re married to
give yourself to the person you
love. And --- OUR marriage will
bring with it the promise of
forever. We will give ourselves to
one another completely, become
best friends – soul mates. So
even though we may be apart
right now, by living chastely for
each other in the present we can
build our future together.
Have you ever been in the middle
of doing something when you
stop to think, “This would be
perfect if….?” Those words come
to mind often – for example, on a
Fall day, with leaves covering the
ground and crisp, cool breezes
blowing, and I think, “This would
be perfect if…. She were here.”
The thought that someday you
will be here comforts me.
And… I want that same thought
to comfort you. Whether you
realize it or not, I’ve been there in
your thoughts, that shiver or the
goose bumps you get every once
in a while – in the long daydream
or a lingering glance. You don’t
have to wonder anymore,
because I’m real, I love you and I
am waiting for you – in every
way. And now that you know I’m
here, I hope you’ll do the same.
Whenever you feel scared,
unsure, or pressured to give a
part of yourself away, read this
letter. Think about us and how
perfect it will be when we are
together.

TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE
The human race and its struggle
to keep up with technology:
It was a bloodless conflict fought
not with bullets and spears, but
with iPhones and floppy disks.
Now the battle between the haves
and have-nots can begin.
Computers and handsets are
becoming an extension of body
and mind, creating a Cyborg-like
population.
For humans, what used to be this
body of flesh and bone, all that is
now just the center... Being
human is a moving target.
At no time in history has
technology moved so fast. Today
the latest high-tech gizmos can
be passe even before hitting the
shop floors.
In the past -- during the post-
industrial revolution era, for
example -- accelerating technology
has plateaued. So, with the
meteoric rise of new social media
outlets including Facebook,
Twitter, YouTube and Skype,
History suggests the world is
overdue for a slowdown.
this time, any slowdown in the
digital age is a "myth," as
innovation will only press forward
"faster... And faster and faster."
We are not going through a
transition to another faze of
stability, and that is the key
point. People will always be
behind now and that will be a
stress they have to cope with.
You will hear someone say: Why
arent robots washing my dishes
yet???

OUR IDENTITY IN JESUS – LOVE
NUMBERS 21:4-
As Israelites
travelled around EDOM, They grew impatient and they spoke aganst God
and Moses. Venomous snakes were sent that bit the Israelites and many
died. They plea that Moses would pay to them so that the snakes would
be taken away.
The Lord told Moses
to make up a snake and place it in a pole and anyone who lookedat it
would live.
Message: God will
always provide solution to our problems.
In the book of Job,
God provided a solution.
John 3:14-17. His
love is sufficient to us. God gave his son for us.
#JESUS LOVES US MORE
THAN ANY OTHER THINGS.
He took his time to
Mold us.
Hebrews 12:5. Lets
fix our eyes Unto Jesus who is the author and the finisher of our
Faith.

can separate us from God's love.

What is God's plan for my life?
What is it that makes you happy; what do you really enjoy doing in life? What have you been successful at? It's possible that God's plan for your life can be found there. Seek His guidance, and if you feel that God is leading you in a particular direction, move forward in faith; believing that it is God's will for you.
As we go through life, God will affirm whether or not we're on the right path. That's why it's so important that we spend a lot of time with Him, seeking His guidance. If we do, then we won't always be finding ourselves on the wrong path; a path which leads to nowhere.1
I do know this: God wants to be involved in the lives of His children; He wants to have a personal relationship with us; and when this life is over, He wants us to spend eternity with Him. He also wants us to have an abundant life here and now; life on a higher spiritual plane.
There are so many things that God wants for His children: He wants us to see things as He sees them; to have Godly wisdom and not the wisdom of the world. He also wants us to throw off everything that would hinder us from running the race of life set before us by Him.2
Our Heavenly Father favors our lives and He wants to bless us exceedingly abundantly; physically, spiritually, and materially. He holds us close to His heart, and through the Holy Spirit who lives within us, He transforms us more and more into the true image and likeness of His son Christ Jesus; in true righteousness and holiness (He desires that we be Christ-like.) He also desires that we truly be the salt of the earth and the light of the world; to bring light into the darkness. It is also our Heavenly Father's desire that we share His offer of salvation with others; that they too might have eternal life- a restored relationship with Him. God also wants His children to build their lives on a solid foundation (His word the Bible); not on an un-solid foundation which is washed away when the storms of life come.3
Finally, our Heavenly Father delights in giving His children the desires of their hearts; as we delight ourselves in Him, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.4

My Dream
My dream since childhood has been to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope is to leave the World a little better for having being there. My career objectives is to work in a challenging and dynamic technological environment, in the area of leadership, with a view of integrating creativity, team work and diligent research to provide practical way forward that will embrace challenges and map comprehensive strategies in managing conflict and risk management for organizational and technological development as well as culture.
So help me God to achieve this Dream.
